Three Generations. One Commitment.

A Story More Than Four Decades in the Making

Since 1984, Brick & Kyle Associates has helped individuals and families prepare for retirement, manage their investments and navigate important financial decisions.

What began with a commitment to better retirement planning has evolved across three generations - while remaining grounded in personal service, thoughtful guidance and a responsibility to put clients first.

The Beginning

Where the Brick & Kyle Story Began

A Different Approach to Retirement Planning

Brick & Kyle Associates was founded in 1984 by Edgar “Topper” Brick.

From its original office at 905 Mt. Eyre Road in Newtown, Pennsylvania, the firm was established to pursue a more nuanced approach to retirement planning and to help pre-retirees and younger employees better understand the benefits available to them.

The firm's early services included retirement planning, asset management and employee benefit programs for medium to large corporations.

That same year, Brick & Kyle secured its first corporate client, Squibb Corporation.

It marked the beginning of a business that would grow through education, relationships and a strong focus on helping people better prepare for retirement.

Planning Beyond the Next Few Years

The Personal Retirement Profile

In 1985, Brick & Kyle developed its Personal Retirement Profile, or PRP.

The PRP was designed to provide clients with a 30-year retirement analysis based on their expected retirement cash-flow needs.

The analysis incorporated a range of assumptions and financial considerations, including:

  • Retirement income

  • Growth of assets

  • Social Security

  • Inflation

  • Potential tax-rate changes

  • Existing debt

The objective was to help clients look beyond individual investments and better understand how their financial resources could support them throughout retirement.

Retirement planning has remained an important part of Brick & Kyle's work ever since.

Helping Employees Understand Their Financial Future

From Newtown to Major Corporations

Following the firm's early work with Squibb Corporation, Brick & Kyle developed relationships with a number of major employers, including:

  • Bristol-Myers

  • Hershey Foods Corporation

  • SmithKline Beecham plc

  • Sony Corporation

  • Dow Jones Corporation

  • Rohm & Haas Company

Topper conducted seminars for corporate employees, with a particular emphasis on educating younger workers and pre-retirees about their benefits and helping them understand how those benefits could fit into a broader retirement strategy.

This educational approach became an important part of Brick & Kyle's early identity.

Topper earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 1995 and continued to lead the direction and initial growth strategy of the firm through 2015.

The Second Generation

The Next Generation Joins Brick & Kyle

Andrew Brick

In 1996, Topper's son, Andrew Brick, joined Brick & Kyle as an investment advisor.

Andrew earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2001 and became increasingly involved in the firm's investment management, retirement planning and long-term growth.

During this period, Brick & Kyle began evolving from a business with a significant corporate seminar component toward a firm increasingly focused on developing long-term relationships with individual clients.

Much of that growth occurred organically — through referrals and word of mouth from the people and families the firm served.

An Important Evolution

Adapting the Business While Preserving the Philosophy

From Brokerage to Fee-Only Investment Advisory Services

Beginning in 1998, Brick & Kyle began transitioning from traditional brokerage services to fee-only investment advisory services.

The change represented an important evolution in the firm's business model and allowed Brick & Kyle to focus more efficiently on providing ongoing investment management and retirement guidance to its clients.

While the structure of the business changed, the firm's underlying philosophy did not.

Brick & Kyle has long operated as a fiduciary — placing the interests of clients ahead of its own — and has remained highly service-oriented throughout its history.

The firm's philosophy can perhaps be summarized most simply in a principle that has endured for decades:

Straight answers to straight questions.

The Third Generation

The Brick & Kyle Story Continues

Ian Brick Joins the Firm

In June 2023, Ian Brick, Andrew's son and Topper's grandson, joined Brick & Kyle as an advisor.

Ian manages client accounts and provides investment and retirement guidance.

In 2026, he earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.

His involvement represents the third generation of the Brick family to work within the firm and an important part of Brick & Kyle's succession strategy.

For the firm, three generations of family leadership represent more than longevity.

They represent continuity — a commitment to ensuring that the relationships, experience and philosophy developed over more than four decades can continue into the future.

Built on Experience. Focused on Retirement.
Helping Clients Prepare for What Comes Next

Today, Brick & Kyle works primarily with pre-retirees and retirees, helping clients manage investments and prepare for one of the most important financial transitions of their lives.

The firm provides investment management together with comprehensive financial and retirement planning as part of the ongoing client relationship.

That planning can include considerations such as:

  • Retirement income planning

  • 401(k) contribution and investment planning

  • Pension planning

  • Roth IRA conversion strategies

  • Education planning

  • Social Security guidance

  • Tax-planning considerations

  • Estate-planning considerations

  • Insurance considerations

  • Charitable-giving strategies

When a client's needs require legal, accounting or other specialized professional advice, Brick & Kyle can help identify those needs and work alongside the client's outside professionals.

The objective remains the same as it was when the firm began:

Understand the client's circumstances, provide thoughtful guidance and help them work toward a comfortable retirement.

A Proven Past. A Clear Future.
Continuing the Brick & Kyle Legacy

Brick & Kyle has changed significantly since 1984.

The investment industry has changed. Technology has changed. The way people prepare for retirement has changed.

Brick & Kyle has adapted along the way.

What has remained consistent is the firm's belief in personal service, fiduciary responsibility, individualized guidance and long-term relationships.

Today, three generations of family involvement provide both continuity and a foundation for the future.

Brick & Kyle's ambition is clear:

To continue building one of Bucks County's premier retirement planning firms while preserving the personal service and values that have defined the firm for more than four decades.
